For the Fam

First, excuse the text background. Somehow one got selected and I can't get it back to having no background. And, seeing as this is a long post, I don't want to re-do it.

Seeing as I haven't gotten around to making cute pages for our latest adventures... I'll at least post pictures. I'm sure you would all like to see some.

First is Tyson's and my vacation. The kids stayed in St. George and hung out with grandparents while we took off and played.

We stopped off first in Las Vegas for a temple session and then met up with Tyson's cousin, Gabe and his wife for lunch. We ate yummy Thai food, played frisbee golf (and didn't die of heat), and went swimming. We snapped a couple quick pictures at the temple, but the camera stayed put away after that. We were too busy having fun. We will have to go back and play again with them!

The next day we headed to LA and actually went straight to the beach. We went to El Matador beach up north of Malibu which had cool craggy rocks and stuff. I've heard sunsets are amazing at that beach, but we wanted to make sure we could find our hotel before it got dark. So, alas, no beach sunset for us. Besides, we kinda got bored.

The next day we headed to the Getty Villa in Malibu. It was a beautiful place, and it took us most of the day to go through it all. We took the garden and architecture tours (the museum is modeled after a first-century Roman country house, the Villa dei Papiri in Herculaneum, Italy.) The history was interesting, the architecture was beautiful, the statues were naked, and they had a really cool special exhibit of photos of the Holy Land upstairs. Needless to say, we felt cultured after our visit.

Even though we didn't bring the kids, we couldn't pass up the kid room. I created my own vase (with dry erase markers... brilliant!) and Tyson fought of invaders with his sword and shield.

Our next day took us to the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanical Garden for some beauty, and a concert that night:

We didn't take any pictures of the actual concert (they told us not to), but here's a picture of the set-up... sort of. The dome thing to the right was the stage. All those tables in front of us filled up with old people (no insult intended guys!), with wine, cheese, bread, and grapes. Seriously. Us with our water and Subway sandwiches kinda stood out. Fortunately, we didn't care, and enjoyed the concert.

We returned to St. George on my birthday, and Miles and Grandma Janet had whipped up a little something special:

We also went to the splash park before heading out the next day.

Then we came home to THIS from our garden (That zucchini was almost as long as my arm!):
